Melissa Centola, OD

Dr. Melissa Centola joined Eyecare Associates in 2024. She attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Optometry School in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she completed externships at Northeastern Eye Institute in Pennsylvania, East Boston Community Health Center in Massachusetts, and New Orleans VA Medical Center. Prior to pursuing optometry, she earned her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University.

Dr. Centola provides comprehensive eye care, specializing in spectacle and contact lens correction, as well as the diagnosis and management of conditions such as diabetic eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, and macular degeneration. She is licensed by the State of Louisiana and certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Centola believes in providing compassionate, personalized care by listening to each patient’s needs and empowering them with knowledge for informed decisions. She strives to treat everyone with respect and tailor her approach to each patient’s unique circumstances.

Originally from Monroe, LA, Dr. Centola met her husband, Nick Buttitta, in her hometown. Together, they enjoy exploring new restaurants, reading, cooking, spending time with their beloved dog, Wallace, and supporting both LSU and the New Orleans Saints.
