Scott Lanoux, MD, is a proud New Orleans native and distinguished board-certified ophthalmologist with a rich medical background and profound commitment to serving the eyecare needs of the people of New Orleans. He earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Louisiana State University, soon after pursuing an internship at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA and an ophthalmology residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. Aside from offering more than three decades of exceptional care to patients through private practice settings, he left a lasting mark in New Orleans’ professional sports arena, serving as the Team Ophthalmologist for the New Orleans Saints from 1992 to 2010. The NFL further recognized his expertise by selecting him as an “on the field” physician during the 2001 Super Bowl. He holds several hospital affiliations, most notably with Touro LCMC, Tulane Medical Center, East Jefferson LCMC and Mercy Baptist Medical Center, where he served as Department of Ophthalmology Chairman for a decade. From 1994-1996, he was the Chief of Ophthalmology and President of the historic Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital which served the underprivileged in New Orleans for over 100 years. He earned his board-certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1991 and holds active memberships with the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology and the Louisiana Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and playing basketball.
